WELOV, a brand of AiDot, is new to us at HomeKit News, but it caught our attention with the announcement of an Matter version of its P200 Pro Air Purifier, making it  first-ever Matter-Certified air purifier. AiDot, the parent company, joined the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) in 2022, and achieved its first Matter certification in November 2022 for its own smart lighting series. Whilst it’s going to be a Matter device, it would appear that this will be a Matter over WiFi, not Matter over Thread.

As an air purifier in the first instance, the P200 Pro is specifically designed to addresses the occurrence of higher PM2.5 levels during the night, especially for those users prone to allergies, which would include things like protection against pollen. What makes this device especially interesting to Apple users is its integration with Apple Health, which would allow users to share sleep data, enabling the air purifier to adjust purification modes based on sleep cycles.

Even if you’re not an Apple user, you can still can take advantage of the device’s use of personalised sleep profiles, synchronisation with users’ sleep patterns, sound level monitoring, and customisable lighting effects, which includes an LED near the top of the device.

Some of the features of this new Air Purifier;

  • Cleans areas up to 1570 ft² in 60 mins
  • Monitoring and adjusting fan speed based on real-time indoor air quality, displayed through colour LEDs and PM2.5 data
  • Air purifier noise levels operates as low as 23dB in sleep mode
  • Uses HEPA filtration, certified to capture 99.97% of ultra-fine particles

The non-Matter version offers three different filters, based on specific user requirements, with a standard filter for everyday use, a filter aimed more at pet owners, and a third option for tackling VOCs, including formaldehyde etc.

The Matter-Certified P200 Pro is scheduled for release on WELOV’s Amazon and AiDot store in March, although this is not set in stone according to the company’s press release.

This time of year might just be the best opportunity to have to splash out on new tech, especially if clean air is something you don’t take for granted. We’ve reviewed quite a few HomeKit-compatible air purifiers over the last few years, including models by Vocolinc, Meross, and Airversa, but the one model that has so far been the most solidly reliable is the Smartmi P1 of which we have two in the home. So, if you don’t have an air purifier for your home, this model is now on sale on Amazon with a very significant discount before Amazon’s second Prime Day sale, and it’s the lowest price the P1 has reached since its release.

The P1, currently only available in the Silver finish is currently on sale on Amazon.com, down from its most recent price of US$179.99 to under US$100 at just US$98.99, once you apply the US$72 OFF coupon and apply a further US$9.00 OFF using the discount code BABAA2QR. This special deal saves you a massive US$81.00 and is on now (Oct 5th PST) ending on Oct 18th at 11:59 pm (PST).

Of course, you’ll need replacement filters eventually, and Smartmi is offering a very generous Buy 1 Get 1 Free deal, on the P1 filters, so for just US$39.99 you get two for the price of one.

If you’re curious about the Smartmi P1 purifier, you can check out our written reviews of the P1 HERE, or check out our overview video below for more information.

New HomeKit Air Purifier With Reusable Filters Unveiled https://homekitnews.com/2022/06/14/new-homekit-purifier-with-reusable-filters-unveiled/ https://homekitnews.com/2022/06/14/new-homekit-purifier-with-reusable-filters-unveiled/#comments Tue, 14 Jun 2022 09:21:06 +0000 https://homekitnews.com/?p=32440 Apolnus might not be familiar to anyone outside of Taiwan (or even inside it, in my case…), but that may

Apolnus might not be familiar to anyone outside of Taiwan (or even inside it, in my case…), but that may soon change with a new HomeKit-compatible air purifier the company are bringing to the market, that boasts not only a more stylish and individual look but also one that requires no replacement filters!

The Myth A1 Air Purifier, as it’s called, is part of the company’s plan to ensure that wherever possible, reusable materials are at the forefront, which in this case means consumers simply ‘washing’ their filters instead of binning the old ones, and replacing them with a new filter. This is a welcome solution in times when recycling or even just extending a product’s life to cut waste helps the planet, as well as your wallet of course.

Unlike the majority of air purifiers on the market – both smart or otherwise – that opt for an all-in-one HEPA-13 type filter, the Myth A1 utilises separate filters to tackle not only the usual things like dust, pet dander, mites, and particulate matter (PM2.5) but also has a specific filter for ozone conversion. Add to this a UV light that helps to deconstruct the DNA of bacteria and viruses to render them harmless (like the recently released Smartmi Air Purifier 2 written review and video), and the ability to filter out VOCs, and you have what you could describe as ‘one purifier to rule them all’

The Myth A1 will work with both HomeKit and Google, using the standard 2.4GHz WiFi, although there’s no mention of Amazon Alexa support. Matter compatibility is also not mentioned at this time, although that could come later on, not that it would make a lot of difference to HomeKit users at first.

Whilst the Myth A1 can be controlled via you HomeKit automations, physical control is still central to the purifier, with touch-sensitive buttons along the top of the unit. Whilst it’s designed for medium to large-sized rooms, the company also offer optional casters, should you want to move it to different rooms.

We’ve been informed that the Myth A1 Air Purifier has passed Apple HomeKit certification, and is in the process of being manufactured, so there are no release dates or prices just yet. You can visit the company’s site, but at present, there’s not a lot of info. hopefully, we’ll be testing the product ourselves in the near future, but in the meantime, to keep up with all the latest HomeKit news and reviews, you can follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit!

Thanks to Bing Feng Yeh for the tipoff.

We’ve been tipped off to what we reckon is a market-first that should hopefully be hitting stores soon, namely the world’s first Thread-enabled Air Purifier, from a brand called Airversa.  Based on the information we’ve been able to glean from an Airversa representative, the new device – simply called the ‘Purelle Air Purifier‘ – uses H13 True HEPA filtration via dual air filters, which work in tandem with the 5-speed fan, allowing control over the cleaning power and noise levels of the air purifier.

Up to this point, smart home air purifiers, even ones that aren’t HomeKit compatible, tend to use standard 2.4GHz WiFi to connect to your network, so the Purelle using Thread is a bit of a departure, and one that may well be very popular, if the early and fast adoption rate for any Thread-enabled devices is anything to go by.

The design is very ‘Apple’ at first glance, and features no mechanical buttons that we can see, with all physical controls accessible via a large circular display in the centre of the air vent at the top of the device. From the image above, it would seem you have access to most of the data you’re likely to need, including the basics – power, fan speeds, and timers, as well as filter life, a child lock, and night mode. The largest part of the display is taken up with the PM2.5 readout, which indicates that, unlike last year’s offering by Meross, the Purelle includes a PM2.5 sensor. Indeed, given the large green LED ring that surrounds the display, it’s also safe to assume this would change colour based on the indoor air quality.

Based on the information we have, this new product is designed to work in medium to large rooms. The size also seems to be comparable to other recent products by the aforementioned Meross, as well as Smartmi, and Sensibo, although as already stated, these all use 2.4GHz WiFi, not Thread, like the Purelle.

Currently, there’s no word on a release date, although the company’s website does list the Purelle at US$199.99, next to a mini desktop version (Purelle Mini), that we’re told is not ‘smart’. Additionally, as this is Thread-enabled, at this time, it’s a HomeKit exclusive, which also means that to take full advantage of the device’s Thread capabilities, you’re going to need either a HomePod Mini or a 2021 model Apple TV4K. If you don’t have one of these, you can still connect to it via Bluetooth.

Once we know more, we’ll update this article to reflect any changes or additions. In the meantime, to keep up with all the latest HomeKit news and reviews, you can follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit!

You may have not heard of Wynd unless you’re a regular visitor to places like Kickstarter, but the US-Based startup has been developing two products over the last 18 months, with the help of crowdfunding. These two devices, which are independent of each other, whilst also being able to work in tandem, are the Wynd Halo, an air quality monitor, much in the same mould as the Kaiterra Laser Egg 2, and the Wynd Home Purifier, a connected air purifier for the home.

It would seem from our sources, that these will be shipping to initial backers in about a month, with – we presume – general availability via online stores like Amazon, to follow. According to the Kickstarter page. both of these devices are compatible with HomeKit, as well as Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, and as already mentioned, can work together to monitor and clean your air. The Wynd Halo, whilst being similar to devices like the Laser Egg line of products, and the recently released Koogeek Air Monitor, does contain many more sensors than either of these products, including sensors for;

  • VOCs
  • CO2
  • Temperature
  • Humidity
  • Light
  • Noise
  • PM10, PM2.5 & PM1.0

Additionally, the company uses a new technology developed by themselves, called AIR ID which can also sense and individually identify issues relating to;

  • Pollen
  • Dust
  • Smog
  • Smoke
  • Pet dander

As if that wasn’t enough, the company’s own Wynd app can alert you of any major issues in your environment so that you can quickly react to serious issues.

The Wynd Halo comes with a small circular LCD screen that can display a multitude of different information, with a mixture of simple graphical icons, as well as number-based information and text descriptions. The edge of the front portion of the Halo also has a ring of embedded LEDs that allows for a quick visual alert for when the air quality changes. These colours correspond to the typical colours used in many AQI monitors in relation to the number of particulates in the air.

the Wynd Home Purifier is designed to be able to work independently, and in tandem with the Wynd Halo. The Home Purifier is capable of tackling HEPA-level particulates, VOCs (like formaldehyde), odours, mould spores, bacteria, ozone, as well as NOx (nitrogen oxides), SOx (sulphur oxides).

Current pricing for these products depends on whether you buy them individually or as a pack, but the sensor is listed as US$89 (early bird price) or US$99 (regular), with the Air Purifier coming in at US$229 (early bird price) or US$249 (regular), and the combo of both, priced at US$279 (early bird price) or US$299 (regular). There’s a lot more to both of these devices, so a more in-depth review will be forthcoming hopefully.

Coway, the electronics manufacturer known for their air and water purifier products amongst other things, are bringing a brand new HomeKit compatible Air Purifier to the Asian market – the Coway ‘Pure Air Tower’, model number AP-1217L(H). Details are sketchy at the moment, but a non-HomeKit version of this product already exists, namely the AP1217L, which we assume has much the same functions.

Their Chinese website doesn’t current offer a lot of info regarding how to actually purchase the device and when it will be generally available, and while all the copy is in Mandarin, we have been able to get the following information on this product.

  • display to show pm2.5 levels
  • utilises a reusable filter
  • indicator to notify when replaceable filter needs changing
  • Apple HomeKit compatible
  • Smart auto speed changing function
  • HEPA+ filter to combat formaldehyde and other pollutants
  • 4 different fan modes

Assuming this comes to market, it will be the first officially HomeKit-enabled air purifier, which is quite surprising, given how long, and how popular air purifiers are given the current pollution issues much of the world – especially China – face on a day-to-day level.

Taiwan-based electronics manufacturer Opro9, are looking to release a brand new HomeKit compatible Air Purifier in the next few months. There’s currently no word on the official name or model of the device, but according to an older press release, the product has previously been referred to as the ‘Smart Air Washer’. Company representatives have confirmed that it is indeed already HomeKit compatible.

This will bring the total of HomeKit compatible devices from this company to three, alongside their Smart Outlet and iU9 Smart Socket

The exact details on what else the product does in addition to its main function isn’t clear at this point, but given that it has a large light encompassing the top, one can assume this to be some sort of separately controlled night light in addition to allowing colour-based warnings based on air quality.

More information to follow after my visit to ‘Computex 2018’ this Saturday.
